Industrial Designer (MA)   |   SIAL Workshop Manager   |   Sessional Lecturer
Brad manages the advanced modelling workshop at SIAL, liaising with research based student and industry projects. His tasks Include digital based model making & scanning, technical support, staff training, design tutoring, demonstrations, project documentation, development of training manuals for modelling equipment and OH&S representative for SIAL.
 
Brad is also a sessional lecturer for SIAL and the School of Architecture & Design. Classes taught have included 'model making', 'digital modelling & prototyping', 'rapid prototyping jewllery design' 'eco home eco lifestyle', terestrial scaning - redesigning melbourne' electives;  an ‘eco design’ specialised project electives and technology classes.

A brief background
 
From his personal practice Brads interests have lead him in two research areas. One of which is a study to develop new methods of ecologically sustainable design and lifestyle. The second research area has lead Brad to explore an integration of virtual and physical environments including Rapid Prototyping techniques and digital scanning technologies.
Brad won an number of prominate research awards when he completed his masters in 2001, the research area was in the field of sporting equipment, developing a racing wheelchair design that resulted in athlete ‘Lachlan Jones’ using a prototype to compete in the Paralympics and break 4 world records.
