TOM KOVACB.Arch (RMIT University) M.Arch (RMIT University)contact: ??? Project Involvement PARAmetric Design fab*hab Tom Kovac is an Adjunct Professor of Architecture at RMIT. Kovac has taught, lectured and exhibited throughout Europe, Japan and the United States. Tom Kovac was Visiting Professor at Ljubljana University in 2001 and is a design studio director at RMIT University, where he has taught since 1993. Kovac is leading the creative development of lab.3000 -Victoria's first centre for excellence in digital design and a Victorian State Government initiative. Established in 1992, Tom Kovac Architecture is a research, architecture and design practice, producing projects that combine the use of digital tools and manufacturing technologies for the conception and realisation of projects at varying scales. In 2002 Kovac participated in the 8th International Biennale of Architecture in Venice, with two projects for the United States Pavilion, World Trade Center, Past Present & Future and the Alessi City of Towers exhibition. Other exhibitions are the 'Tea & Coffee' Towers at the Milan Triennale, Alessi Paris, Max Protetch Gallery New York, FRAC in Orleans, Soft(ware) Boundaries Tel Aviv, Alessi Hamburg, Berlin, LACMA San Francisco, and the Non Standard Architectures exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. His most recent projects include a proposal for the World trade Centre in New York, A Light Room Environment for Company in Space at the Melbourne Museum and the recently completed Urban Attitude project at Federation Square, Melbourne. Current projects by his office Kovac Architecture range from experimental conceptions and digital environments to urban planning projects. Kovac is currently creating and building projects in Australia and internationally. These include the Digital Design Gallery in Melbourne, a Virtual Concourse, the Powerhouse Skyscraper with Henderson Architects, the National Showground Centre and a Fabric Development Laboratory in Vicenza, Italy. Tom was a Visiting Fellow for the Skins of Intimate Distance Liveness and Affect week held at SIAL in August, 2003. | ||||||||
